Drop Ambuja Cements proposal in Pedagantyada: HRF
The Human Rights Forum (HRF) demands the immediate withdrawal of Ambuja Cements Ltd’s (ACL) proposal to establish a cement grinding unit with cement production capacity of 4 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) at Pedagantyada village in Visakhapatnam district. Pushing a hazardous, highly polluting industry into the midst of a densely populated area is reckless in the extreme. It amounts to an assault on the people’s right to health, safety and a clean environment. HRF also calls upon the AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) to cancel, without further delay, the sham public hearing slated for October 8, 2025. We believe it is a mere façade that only seeks to rubber-stamp a project that will cause irreparable harm.
