Adavivaram data center: SEAC has No Jurisdiction

The project attracts the General Condition and is Category A and therefore the SEAC has no jurisdiction. Under the General Condition appended to the Schedule of the EIA Notification 2006, a Category B project located within 10 km of the boundary of a Protected Area notified under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 must be treated as Category A and appraised by the Expert appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) at the Centre. The proponent’s own EMP (page 9) records that the site is 0.86 km from the Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary boundary and 0.45 km from its notified Eco-Sensitive Zone (Sanctuary and ESZ notified vide S.O. 1366(E) dated 28.04.2017).

ఆ ప్రాంతంలో అడ్డూ ఆపు లేకుండా సాగుతున్న పారిశ్రామిక కాలుష్యం గురించి గత కొద్ది కాలంగా పత్రికల్లో వస్తున్న వార్తలు, ఫిర్యాదుల గురించి తెలుసుకుని,నలుగురు సభ్యులతో కూడిన హెచ్.ఆర్.ఎఫ్. బృందం ఈ రెండు మండలాల్లో అనేక కాలుష్యం ప్రభావిత గ్రామాలను 15-5-2026న సందర్శించింది. ఈ బృందం అచ్యుతాపురం మండలంలోని పూడిమడక ప్రాంతాన్ని, రాంబిల్లి మండలంలోని సీతపాలెం, కంసాలి కాలనీ, లాలంకోడూరు, ఎరకన్నపాలెం గ్రామాలను సందర్శించి అక్కడ రైతులు, మత్స్యకారులను కలిసివిషయాలు తెలుసుకుంది. అక్కడ కొన్ని పదుల సంఖ్యలోనున్న ఫార్మా, రసాయనిక కర్మాగారాల నుండి అత్యంత ప్రమాదకర పారిశ్రామిక వ్యర్ధాలు పిల్లమ్మగెడ్డ, ఉప్పరిగెడ్డల్లోకి పారడం మేము ప్రత్యక్షంగా చూసాము.

Halt Toxic Pollution in Anakapalli SEZ: HRF

A four-member HRF team visited several affected villages in the two mandals on Friday following media reports and long-standing complaints regarding rampant industrial pollution in the region. The team visited the Pudimadaka area, the coastal fishers’ village in Atchutapuram mandal, and Seetapalem, Kamsali Colony, Lalam Koduru and Yerakannapalem, all in Rambilli mandal. We interacted with residents, predominantly farmers and fisher-folk. During our visit, we directly witnessed toxic industrial discharges flowing from dozens of pharma and chemical units into Pillamma Gedda and Uppari Gedda.
