To,
Shri A. Revanth Reddy,
Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Telangana.
(Through Shri V. Sheshadri, IAS, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister)
Subject: Request for early release of 102 life convicts on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi
Respected Sir,
We wish to respectfully bring to your kind attention that, as per reports published in the media approximately two weeks ago, a list of 102 life convicts (including 6 women prisoners) eligible for premature release, in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, is presently under consideration in the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Office.
The families of these prisoners, along with our organization, sincerely welcome and appreciate this humane and progressive initiative of the Government of Telangana under your leadership. This step reflects Government’s commitment to the principles of justice, reformation, and compassion. The family members, relatives, and well-wishers of the eligible convicts are eagerly awaiting the realisation of this decision, which would restore hope and dignity to their lives.
We further understand that another list of eligible prisoners is under process, in accordance with the schedule prescribed by the Home Department vide G.O. Ms. No. 126, dated 27.10.2025.
In this context, we earnestly request that the release of the above-mentioned 102 life convicts may be done on the auspicious occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi (14th April). Such a decision would serve as a fitting tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, whose ideals of justice, equality, and human dignity continue to guide our democracy.
We also humbly suggest that the subsequent list of eligible prisoners, after completion of due procedure, may be considered for release on 15th August, Independence Day.
We respectfully urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister to kindly announce the schedule for these proposed releases at the earliest, which would bring immense relief and joy to the affected families and reinforce public confidence in the reformative approach of the Government.
We remain hopeful that the Government will continue t o uphold the spirit of justice, reform, and compassion in its approach towards life-term prisoners.
Yours sincerely,
S. Jeevan Kumar, Coordination Committee Member (Telangana & Andhra Pradesh)
